Food Packing at IDES

On Saturday May 31, nearly 30 people from the church went to IDES to pack meal packets to be sent to Haiti.

Each meal packet contains measured amounts of crushed soy meal, rice, dried vegetables, and a vitamin pack;  enough for six meals in each package.  They were loaded by hand and then weighed to make sure they had the correct amount before being sealed and then packed in boxes with 48 packets to a box, or 288 meals.

We packed about 5,000 meals in about 75 minutes working in three assembly lines.  The church paid for all of these at a cost of about $0.25 per meal which includes the price to ship them to Haiti.
