Antique Americana Quilt

About this time of year, we start showcasing some of the items that will be offered at the annual Harvest of Talents for World Hunger event. This year, the event takes place on October 17th (always the third Saturday in October). Several people in the church have worked on this project (and several friends outside the church), which is being done in addition to the community quilt this year.

This is an antique quilt top that is about 50 years old. Its holes were patched and appliqued. A border was added and a backing was selected. Then, the hand quilting began. The quilting is a repetitive, simple, square design done with blue and white blendable thick thread.
